According to Social Mobility Employer Index 2018, Enterprise Rent-A-Car has been ranked within the top 10 of UK's employers. Compiled by the Social Mobility Found and the City of London Corporation of the top 50 employers, Enterprise has consecutively place among the top 10 for two years. Enterprise has more than 470 locations and 5000 employees across the UK and the company was recognized due their ability to access, nurture and further talent from all backgrounds.
The index, first of its kind globally, recognizes the top UK employers who provide the environment and the most action to improve social mobility in the workplace. In their report, Enterprise was noted for its outreach work at schools with above average levels of free school meals and lower levels of attainment. The company was also praised for having no minimum grade requirements for any of its roles and measuring progression and retention to ensure there are no barriers for those from lower socio-economic backgrounds. The long-term strategy at Enterprise is to provide opportunities to the broadest possible talent pool to foster social mobility. The end result has allowed many people from less advantaged backgrounds reaching senior positions. 65 percent of Enterprise managers are first generation graduates.
In the past year, Enterprise recruited from 151 different institutions for its graduate and internship programs with 86 percent of hires from non-Russel Group universities. The company has intentionally recruited from all areas where branches are located. Enterprise also provides a growing apprenticeship program that offers an accessible route into the business for non-graduates with ongoing career progression opportunities.
