How to make money on your vacation
The average vacation costs over $1000 per person during a weeklong trip. This may not seem like a lot to some people but it is quite a bit of money. There are lots of ways to recuperate some of the costs by renting out a few things which you leave at home and people may want to use.
- Renting out your home. Using programs such as AirBnB and HomeAway, you can easily connect with travellers who are looking for a place to stay at your city while you're away at another. Keep in mind that rates vary due to location of your home and you may want to set a rate that is competitive so you have takers.
- Renting out your parking space. If you own a parking space in a high traffic area or a downtown location, lots of people would love to borrow your parking space for a week. You can use Craigslist or Parkingspotter to list your parking space.
- Rent out your car. With car-sharing apps popping up everywhere you can easily find someone to rent your car for a week. Lots of people are using these apps to help with monthly car payments on their new cars. Keep in mind that the year, make, and model will all affect if your car can be rented out or not.
