Zipcar reaches 1 million

Zipcar has just announced they reached the million member milestone. Zipcar currently operates in more than 500 cities and towns spread out in eight countries across the globe. As a result of Zipcar's milestone, more than 413,000 vehicles are not on city streets, significantly improving congestion and parking challenges according to the company.

Zipcar is a monthly subscription service that allows you to rent Zipcars. Their vehicles are designated in parking spots all over many major cities and towns, especially on college campuses. A rental can range from one hour to seven days. Members can reserve a Zipcar in advance and use a special Zipcard credit card to get into the vehicle. The trips must be a round trip meaning the location of pick up for the Zipcar is the same as the drop-off point. Gas and insurance are included at no extra charge.
