Avis Budget Group has hit a major milestone in their company by reaching and surpassing their 100,000th mark of connected vehicles on the roads globally. By connecting cars to their Avis mobile app, travelers have been able to change or upgrade their vehicle in real-time from the lot, locate their vehicle, and plans for future functions.
Arthur Orduñ, chief innovation officer of the Group said, "connected cars allow Avis customers to manage their entire rental through our app, including locking and unlocking car doors via smartphone. We see a future in which connected cars will know preferred seat position, car temperature, radio presets and more." He goes on to give an example of how they may enhance their consumers' experiences through connected cars by sending push notifications recommending destinations that may interest them. It has been two years since the Avis mobile app was redesigned and since then usage has grown to more than 1.5 million transactions by more than 400,000 registered users and has been able to increase their customer satisfaction ratings by 20 percent.
Functions that have enhanced their consumer's experience including the ability to pick a vehicle that's more suitable to their personal preference, return the vehicle, locate their outlet in an airport, locate previous transactions, locate the next courtesy shuttle, locate nearby fuel or parking services and locate the vehicle itself. And while mobility has greatly increased customer satisfaction, it has helped the company itself streamline operations and reduce unnecessary costs. The new mobility allows for real-time inventory counts, mileage management and automated maintenance notifications. "Connectivity allows us to employ more dynamic planning and makes our inventory process that much more effective."
